"Mechanical Miracle - The World's only Hide-Away Hardtop".

Ford Motor Company produced the retractable hardtop Skyliner

from 1957 through 1959. In 1959, Ford produced 12,915 Skyliner

History

On the seventh day of July 2012 John Meinburg bought a 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie , Skyliner Retractable Hardtop.  The bill of sale reflex’s it to be V8, Automatic Transmission, and Light blue with blue and grey interior.  It was purchased from Thomas Orr of Roswell, Ga.  Included with the sale were additional maintenance parts, filters, manuals and related printed materials.

Throughout the insuring years John disassembled the car, bagged and marked each piece and restored or replaced every part.  He powder coated the frame and it’s members and upgraded the brake system with Willwood dual caliper brakes.  The under floor board is White Rhino Liner and top is black.  The body and its parts are repainted white over red.

John put the body on the frame and replaced the fenders and bumpers but unfortunately he passed away the summer or 20023, before his dream was complete.

At the time of his death John was living in a cottage on his son’s property adjacent to mine and I heard the car was for sale by his estate.

When I picked up the car we loaded a 16 foot utility trailer with parts not yet installed along with some spares.  All the remaining painted parts and trim were wrapped in white paper to prevent scratches.  Every piece or stainless had been professionally restored and wrapped in newspaper.  I feel so blesses to have found a car given this amount of care and feel compelled to finish this project started with so much time and money invested.

I only hope I can keep the same quality of workmanship already applied.

As you scroll down through the pictures below you will see this is a work in progress.

I have truly met and surpassed my level of inadequacy and i am actively help most especially with top operation
